Exes Matteo Berrettini, Ajla Tomljanović have ‘awkward’ run-in at US Open party: ‘Tensions were really high’

This was anything but a grand slam.

Exes Matteo Berrettini and Ajla Tomljanović had a “really awkward” run-in at an exclusive US Open cocktail party at the Park Lane Hotel hosted by Dobel Tequila over the weekend, Page Six can exclusively reveal.

A source tells Page Six that the tennis pros, whose breakup was heavily featured in the Netflix docuseries “Break Point,” had no idea they were both staying at the luxury hotel, which left both scrambling to avoid each other.

“There was a lot of drama because they haven’t seen each other since their bad breakup” in February 2022, our insider shares.

“It was really awkward. They were giving each other dirty looks throughout the cocktail party and had to be placed on opposite sides of the hotel.”

We also hear Berrettini’s parents were at the soiree and also received glares from Tomljanović, who is back on tour after recovering from a knee injury.

“[Berrettini] left the party. The tensions were really high and the awkwardness was so intense,” our eyewitness explains.

We’re also told that during the meet-and-greet, Tomljanović would “walk away” whenever her ex-beau would snap a photo and vice versa – perhaps in an attempt to avoid making unforced errors.

“They were 100 percent blindsided” learning they were both at the Park Lane Hotel, our source adds.

Reps for the former couple did not immediately return Page Six’s requests for comment.

Berrettini, 27, and Tomljanović, 30, split after three years of dating following the 2022 Australian Open.

“Every relationship, it has good times and bad times. I could just feel that things were not right,” Tomljanović said in “Break Point.”

“You look for something that will last a lifetime and it wasn’t meant to be. Yeah, it’s just life that still happens even though you’re a professional athlete.”

Berrettini since has moved on with Italian TV presenter Melissa Satta, who was not present at the intimate party over the weekend.
