Joshua Jackson reveals wife Jodie Turner-Smith proposed to him

Jodie Turner-Smith just couldn’t wait to start the next chapter of her life with Joshua Jackson.

The “Dawson’s Creek” alum, 43, revealed in a new interview that the “Without Remorse” actress, 34, was the one who proposed to him in December 2018.

“She asked me. Yeah, on New Year’s Eve,” he said on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” Monday. “We were in Nicaragua. It was very beautiful, incredibly romantic. We were walking down the beach, and she asked me to marry her.”

Jackson said with a laugh that “there was a preamble” and Turner-Smith did not go straight into the proposal — which he did not know she was going to do.

“But she was quite adamant, and she was right,” he added while looking at his ring. “This is the best choice I’ve ever made.”

The couple went on to marry in December 2019 and welcomed their daughter in April 2020.

The “Queen & Slim” star previously revealed that they had met earlier in 2018 and “had a one-night stand.”

“First of all, I saw him before he saw me, and when I saw him, I was like, ‘I want that,'” she said on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” in May. “And then when he saw me, I just pretended like I didn’t see him. He had to yell across the room to me, and I was wearing this T-shirt from a movie called ‘Sorry to Bother You’ and [actress] Tessa Thompson plays a character called Detroit, and she has this T-shirt that says, ‘The Future is Female Ejaculation.’

“And so, he shouts across the room, ‘Detroit!’ He comes over and … does this really cute, charming thing that he does and just all night — he just basically followed me around the party.”
